The purpose of Standard 62.1-2010 is to specify minimum ventilation rates and other measures intended to provide Indoor Air Quality that is acceptable to human occupants and that minimizes adverse health effects. It is also intended for regulatory application to new buildings, additions to existing buildings, and those changes to existing buildings that are identified in the standard and may be used to guide the improvement of Indoor Air Quality in existing buildings. The focus of this course is on the Ventilation Rate Procedure, as described in Section 6.2 of the Standard. Lesson 1 will provide an introduction to Indoor Air Quality.   Lesson 2 will describe how to design ventilation systems. Lesson 3 will discuss multiple zone systems. At the completion of this course, you will: Know the requirements for the Standard 62.1-2010 Ventilation Rate Procedure;  Apply the requirements to a hypothetical building; Apply the basic ventilation rate procedure equations; Understand the difference in breathing zone ventilation, zone ventilation rates and ventilation required at the outdoor air intake; Understand the operation of single-zone 100% outside air and constant volume systems; Understand the concepts of single supply and secondary recirculation; Understand why different conditions must be calculated; Know the assumptions for VAV system zones ; Apply the 62MZCalc spreadsheet program. This course is approved by GBCI. It can be subscribed to independently, as a part of the Standard 62.1: Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality Course Package, or ASHRAE Standards eLibrary.
