Air classification is an important consideration in the design and operation of almost any HVAC system. This lesson describes the different classes of air as per Standard 62.1-2007. The course defines the scope set by Standard 62.1-2007 in relation to the recirculation of air within a generic HVAC system. It also describes energy recovery systems and their benefits. At the completion of this course, you will be able to: List the types of HVAC air that is classified according to Standard 62.1-2007; Explain how Standard 62.1-2007 treats air from smoking spaces; List the four classes of air according to Standard 62.1-2007, and describe an example of a possible source of each air class; List the three types of redesignation supported by Standard 62.1-2007, and explain how each type of redesignation impacts air classification; Describe the recirculation limits established by Standard 62.1-2007 for each class of air; Explain how smoking impacts ventilation design according to Standard 62.1-2007. This course is approved by AIA and GBCI.  It can be subscribed to independently, as a part of the Standard 62.1: Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality Course Package, or ASHRAE Standards eLibrary. 1.7 PDH (I-P)
